Line Editing

Line editing focuses on the craft of the prose itself — the rhythm of sentences, the flow of ideas, and the precision of language. It’s best suited to manuscripts whose overall structure is in place but whose language would benefit from refinement at the paragraph and sentence level.

I address clarity, cohesion, repetition, tone, and transitions, smoothing awkward phrasing and strengthening sentence structure. I pay close attention to pacing, narrative flow, and emotional resonance, ensuring that each section moves naturally into the next.

At higher levels, I may suggest reworking passages for greater impact, tightening language, enhancing imagery, or clarifying meaning where needed. Throughout the process, my goal is to elevate the prose while preserving the distinct voice and vision at the heart of your work.
