Rates
Every project is different, and you’ve probably noticed that some writing takes more time than expected. Editing is the same—some projects are quick, while others need more attention.
If your work is nearly finished and needs only a few tweaks, the process will be faster and more affordable. But if it requires extensive rewriting, restructuring, or fact-checking, that extra effort will be taken into account in the cost.
I’ll always be clear about what can be achieved, considering the work you need, your budget, and your timeline leading up to publication. We’ll agree on the right level of editing after the sample edit of 3–4 pages of your work.
The ranges below illustrate that each level of editing can vary depending on the complexity of your writing.

Why Professional Editing Costs What It Does
Editing is a craft that takes time, focus, and skill. It’s more than correcting grammar or punctuation — it’s shaping your story, refining its flow, and helping your voice reach readers clearly. Years of practice and experience go into providing thoughtful, high-quality feedback; the cost of professional editing reflects the many hours of careful work and expertise each manuscript requires.
I understand that professional editing can feel like a significant investment. It can also feel like a barrier, especially for writers just starting out. I strive to keep my rates as accessible as possible while still providing the detailed, thoughtful feedback your story deserves. Investing in professional editing is an investment in clarity, resonance, and the lasting impact of your words.
These rates align with current freelance editorial standards for editors according to the EFA and Editors Canada. Pricing is based on manuscript length, complexity, and project type.
