Proofreading
Proofreading is the final quality-control pass before publication, after a manuscript has already been professionally copyedited and formatted. At this stage, the focus is on catching small errors and inconsistencies that could distract a reader.
I proofread slowly and methodically, reviewing the manuscript word by word for remaining issues in spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and spacing. I also check dialogue punctuation, paragraph formatting, pagination, and chapter sequencing, and watch for small technical issues such as repeated hyphens at line breaks or stray characters.
Proofreading is not a substitute for copyediting; if your manuscript still needs sentence-level revision or grammatical support, a copyedit will be a better fit.
