I am incredibly grateful to Julie Davey for the time, care, and expertise she dedicated to evaluating my memoir, Echoes of Us: Roots in Russia.
From the beginning, Julie approached my manuscript with professionalism, compassion, and genuine respect for my story. Her manuscript evaluation was thoughtful, thorough, and exceptionally well organized. Rather than simply pointing out areas that needed improvement, she explained why they mattered and offered clear guidance on how to strengthen the manuscript while preserving my voice.
Her feedback helped me see my memoir through the eyes of a reader. She identified opportunities to deepen emotional scenes, strengthen the narrative arc, clarify chronology, and further develop relationships between the people who shaped my childhood. Most importantly, she never suggested changing who I was as a writer. Instead, she encouraged me to tell my story with greater clarity and impact.
As I revised my manuscript, I found myself returning to her evaluation repeatedly. It became a roadmap that guided each revision and challenged me to transform a collection of memories into a more immersive and emotionally connected memoir.
Julie has a remarkable ability to balance honesty with encouragement. Even when offering constructive criticism, her comments were respectful, insightful, and always focused on helping me create the strongest book possible.
I wholeheartedly recommend Julie Davey to any writer looking for a skilled, thoughtful, and compassionate editor. Her guidance has made a lasting difference in my manuscript, and I am sincerely thankful for the care she invested in my story.

I can highly recommend book editor Julie Davey.
Julie edited my full-length Christmas rom-com novel, Yule Change (expected release fall 2026), and she did a phenomenal job. Her edits were thorough and well communicated. When she found clunky sentences, she gracefully identified the issue at hand and suggested revisions that worked seamlessly with my writing style. When characters acted in ways that were potentially out of line with their personalities, she brought these discrepancies to my attention and left the ball in my court to revise if desired. She also paid meticulous attention to punctuation, but had the insight to know when to apply the rules and when to throw the rules out the window in order to honor pacing, natural pauses, and flow.
In short, her edits made my novel better! I look forward to hiring her again in the future.

I’m a self-published children’s book author, and Julie is my final stop before my manuscripts go to my illustrator. She is phenomenal! I truly appreciate the thorough, thoughtful feedback she provides on my scripts.
Her strengths lie in copyediting and proofreading. Not only does she make precise edits, but she also explains the reasoning behind them and offers helpful alternatives. After incorporating her feedback into my most recent manuscript, the overall quality and readability improved significantly.
Julie is friendly, warm, easy to work with, professional, skilled, and detail-oriented. I highly recommend her!

First of all, working with Julie is a life-changer. She is kind, authentic, true, and all her work is thorough. She’s by your side every step of the way, answering any questions you have, making you and your work feel heard, seen, and understood. I never felt as if my questions were dumb, which is huge for me, as I am not an English girly. This made it such a pleasant and seamless experience. She’s a professional in every sense, right down to the first response, onboarding process, and finalizing your work. She is also so great at keeping your work authentic to you and what you’re trying to convey. If you are debating on hiring Julie for your next project, I highly recommend. You will not regret it.

Working with Julie on this project was a phenomenal experience. I wasn't entirely sure exactly what I was looking for when I approached her with the concept of editing my recipe book, but I trusted in her skills in the field and knew she would know exactly what needed to be done once she saw my work. Julie was patient with me while I made my final revisions before sending her the recipes, and she shocked me with how quickly she was able to turn around the project. She caught small details and flaws that were easily overlooked, but what I really admired was that the feedback given was done in such a way that didn't leave me feeling discouraged. Each comment outside the scope of strictly grammatical corrections was presented in a way that invited conversation about my work, as if she truly wanted to learn my thought process. Julie's thirst for both literary knowledge and personable relationships shines through in her work as an editor. I can confidently say, you are more than just a piece of writing to Julie, and whatever it may be you are trusting her with, it is in very safe hands.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Julie for many editorial projects, and her passion and dedication never cease to impress me. She is an expert in her craft, but more importantly, she’s enthusiastic, encouraging, and supportive. She possesses a remarkable talent for maintaining an author’s unique voice while enhancing clarity, suggesting innovative changes while paying attention to the author’s vision. I would wholeheartedly trust her with my own writing, and I recommend her for any opportunity that requires a driven and talented editor.

Working with an editor felt daunting to me. Editors were too busy, too expensive, or both. Then, I had the privilege of working with Julie on my children's book, and she completely changed my perspective.
From the start, she was responsive, professional, and approachable. She replied to my emails promptly, and her rates are reasonable. After the first round of edits, I brought her additional feedback from a critique group, and she couldn’t have been more supportive. She took the time to answer my questions, thoughtfully address my concerns, and guide me through the process with patience and care. Her support gave me the confidence to move forward with the project.
I’m grateful that a fellow author referred me to her, and I look forward to working with Julie again on future projects.
